The Dolomites, Alta Via 1 and Alta Via 2

Alta Via 1 is where it all started, in 1993. There aren't any recorded itineraries for the early trips, because we just used the book:

• Alta Via: High Level Walks in the Dolomites, by Martin Collins

You'd want to use the more recent edition:

• Treks in the Dolomites: Alta Via 1 and Alta Via 2, by Martin Collins and Gillian Price

We also used:

• Via Ferrata: Scrambles in the Dolomites, by Horst Hoffler and Paul Werner, translated by Cecil Davies

With those books as our guide, we did Alta Via 1 and Alta Via 2, then we did them both again.

I did prepare itineraries for a couple of our more recent trips:

• The Dolomites: Alta Via 1 (in reverse) [16 days]
• The Dolomites: Alta Via 2 (southern section, in reverse) [10 days]
