Software Demonstration

Click here or on the image below to open a new window (or tab) in your browser, running the remote control software with its associated database. There, you can do everything that the jukebox remote controls can do, except that you can't hear the music and you can't see the lyrics. Be aware that the jukebox wasn't designed for multiple independent users, so if someone else happens to be using the demonstration at the same time as you, both of you will be controlling the same jukebox at the same time — this will only be apparent in the Player and Queue sections of the display.

A few words of explanation:

Your Web Browser

In the real jukebox, the jukebox server sends pages to the remote control, which is running a web browser, Firefox. In this demonstration, this site's web server sends the same pages to your web browser.

The remote control pages were designed with the Firefox browser in mind. You might be using a different browser, or it might be configured differently, so the pages might not look exactly as intended. I've briefly tested them with the latest (May 2009) versions of Microsoft Internet Explorer, Opera, Apple Safari, and Google Chrome. They all look fine except Internet Explorer, which looks a complete mess. There's nothing I can do about that, I'm afraid, other than recommend a different browser such as Firefox or any of the others I've listed.

The Demonstration Software

If you've seen the description on this site of the components of the jukebox server, you might like to see how the demonstration software compares.

Below is a copy of part of the software components diagram from page Components of the Minimal Jukebox, with alterations in red to show how the demonstration software is configured.
