Web Browsing with Our Jukebox

With a direct connection to the Internet (not going through the server PC), the remote control provides web browsing from anywhere in the house. The web browsing can be linked to the music in the jukebox, or unrelated to the jukebox.

Music-Related Browsing

Many pages contain "Information" buttons beside the names of artists and albums. Clicking on a button opens a new browser tab, offering a variety of web searches for the album or artist concerned, while the music being played (if any) continues. We find this facility convenient for reading about the music we're listening to.

Start by clicking on the "Information" button.

A new tab will open alongside the main jukebox window. This tab shows the "Web Information Index" page, which provides a variety of useful search links.

At any time, you can click on either of the buttons at the top left, to return to the Web Information Index for another search, or to close the Web Information tab and return to the usual jukebox display.

Other Browsing

Independent of the music, the remote control allows ordinary web browsing. The remote control has two browser windows open: one for the jukebox and one for unrelated browsing. Pressing Alt+Esc (the ordinary Windows task switch) switches from one to the other.

I've constructed a start page for Firefox that offers a number of favourite Internet sites:
